From the dirt road to the main stage…
the Dirt Road Angels are creating quite the buzz! The seasoned singer songwriters, consisting of Dahlia Wakefield, Karen Claypool, Danita Lynn, and Shila Marie, formed the group in 2013 and released two albums – their first, a 15-song compilation CD in September 2013 and their newest EP called “Paint The Town Red” in September 2014.
The Dirt Road Angels released their second single “Paint The Town Red” to Canadian Country Radio in July 2015, which followed the release of their debut single and lyric video “Back Around The Mountain”, a song written by Carl J. Vipperman, J. B. Rudd, and Joanna Cotten in March 2015.
Having recently been nominated for ACMA Group of the Year where they are in the top 10 second round of voting has been exciting and their accolades are increasing. Their song “Memories” was a finalist in the 2014 International Acoustic Music Awards as well as the Calgary Folkfest Songwriting contest.
No stranger to hard work, this female country rock quintet from the Edmonton area have played over 100 dates since their inception including many rodeos, festivals, galas and high profile events, with 50 dates alone during their 2015 summer tour. The Dirt Road Angels have also showcased at CCMA week, and have enjoyed opening for some top country acts including Kira Isabella, High Valley, Doc Walker, The Road Hammers, Colin Raye, Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, Aaron Pritchett and more.
Their enthusiasm, charisma and camaraderie onstage is contagious, their harmonies truly angelic. These ladies work well as a team their future is as bright as the red on their lips. With a calendar full of upcoming 2016 dates already, the Dirt Road Angels are going to kick up more than just some dirt … these estrogen-infused gals will be painting YOUR town red!
